Job Overview

Atelier is a leading digital marketing agency based in Chilworth, Southampton, recognised as one of the top 50 agencies in the South in the recent Wirehive100 league table. We are looking for someone with a strong background in website development to join our studio team.

Within this position, you will get involved in our website projects at the earliest stage – working through our client’s requirements to identify the best solutions, frameworks and CMS systems to meet their needs now and in the future. You will be responsible for specification documents and technical website planning as well as the day to day build of website projects.

This role would be suited to somebody with at least 2-3 years of web development experience, who wants the opportunity to be part of a fun team with a variety of interesting clients.

The successful candidate must be able to provide live demonstrations of their work.

Requirements

  • HTML5
  • CSS 3 / SASS / CSS frameworks Foundation
  • Experience with WordPress + WooCommerce
  • Version Control – Bitbucket/ Github
  • Javascript / jQuery
  • Understanding of MySQL

Desirable, but not essential

  • Node.js
  • Experience with Laravel
  • Understanding of website tracking elements such as Google Tag Manager
  • Understanding of the technical aspects of server hosting – linux based

    Responsibilities

    • Working with the Studio Manager to gather and compile requirements for projects
    • Providing estimates and contributing to new business proposals
    • Writing detailed technical specification documents
    • Working within the studio team to produce innovative solutions
    • Creating pixel perfect mobile responsive HTML templates from PSD
    • Debug, test and troubleshoot layout and scripting issues across a variety of browsers
    • Handle support tickets and ongoing updates to our existing clients’ websites
    • Front-end performance tuning best practices and techniques
    • Experience with hosting solutions and able to recommend to clients the best solution

    Salary

    Negotiable based upon experience

    Contracted Hours

    37.5 hours

    Would also consider part time

     

    Experience and Skills

    • 2 – 3 years experience working on web development (agency experience is preferred but not essential) where you have delivered both small to large scale websites.
    • Experience integrating third party systems (CRM systems, payment gateways etc)
    • An interest in web security, with experience in identifying, testing for and resolving website security issues.
    • Experience in managing own time to meet deadlines
    • Maintaining awareness of industry trends
    • Excellent organisation skills
    • Proactive and flexible attitude
    • Ability to work on own initiative
    • Strong attention to detail, striving for perfection in everything you do
    • Ability to work on multiple projects at one time
    • Good troubleshooting skills
    • Confident speaking with clients and presenting ideas to clients
    • Understanding briefs for design and build and exceeding client requirements
    • Experience of working closely with clients and third parties to specify technical solutions
